PAW 2023 Wargames Show - 04/02/2023 - 05/02/2023

Hey everyone!

I cannot describe how incredibly well the Plymouth Association of Wargamers show went!

On the Saturday, we were busy throughout the whole day showing people how to play the game. There were many dice rolled, many opponents faced and I lost all but 1 match! Evidently I'm not particularly good at my own game.

There were very welcome comments and criticisms throughout the weekend, one of which in particular resulted in a rule being officially added to the game. Around mid-day on the Saturday, a couple of young men came by to play the game as they were looking for a quick wargame to take to school to start a wargaming club at school. They enjoyed a couple of matches and in one game one of the young men lost their hero early on. He asked if anything happens in the Morale phase as a result of the hero being eliminated. I unfortunately didn't have an answer. He ended up coming back over a little while after he and his friend were looking around and suggested that a hero could count as multiple losses.

I used this rule for demonstrations on Sunday and it worked really well!

Big Thank You to Will and James for suggesting the rule!

On the Sunday, it was a little quieter at the event so it meant that Jeremy and I could play through the siege battle that we had set up as a display piece for the weekend although we still had no shortage of interest, from people either watching us play or requesting demo games.

On another note. Throughout the weekend I kept getting asked about the terrain tiles that I had set up for the demo games. If anyone is interested, they are from Anomalia Games. They can be purchased from their own website: www.anomaliagames.com or from their distributor The Pit Gaming Shop: thepitgamingshop.co.uk

They are more expensive than a battle mat, however the variation in terrain and the ability to create a different wargames table every time you play makes it an absolute winner in my book and I recommend them to everyone!

It was an awesome weekend and I'm looking forward to the next show I can take Brethren to!!

Thanks

Matt
